The Lotus Esprit S3 has a N/A 2.2 litre 16v engine fuelled by a pair of twin 48 Delorto DHLA side draught carburrettors.  A really well styled and iconic British sports car of the 1980's and 90's.

The owner had reported that this car ran quite well but as an experienced driver he had the feeling that it was holding back and had more to offer.  So my investigation began...

I went through the full carburration system checked, cleaned reset.... fuel supply pipes changed to E85 compatible, new high flow fuel filters, ignition system health checked, ignition timing set at idle and mechanical advance curve checked also.   During what is a very basic health check in my opinion I found where the issue was and would no doubt have caused the engine to 'hold back'.

Later feedback from the owner was that it was like a different car and had never pulled so strongly.....exactly what I like to hear.
